2309: PLAAY - Reducing Racial Stress for Children

PLAAY - Reducing Racial Stress for Children.  We will discuss how the PLAAY (Preventing Long-Term Anger and Aggression in Youth) intervention, created by Dr. Howard Stevenson at the University of Pennsylvania (https://www.recastingrace.com/), uses culturally responsive group therapy and basketball to teach children the skills to reduce racial stress and resolve conflict during intense in-the-moment events leading to healthy and safe outcomes in the classroom, home and community.  Additionally, we will discuss and practice self-care strategies for adults learning to facilitate PLAAY.  Presented by:  Brendan Turner, LMSW and Nicole McGill.  3.0 Clinical.   Member:  $50 / Non-Member $85.
