1971: The Epidemic of Loneliness – Effective Clinical Socia

1971: June 14, 2019; 8:45 am - 4:15 pm. Registration begins at 8:15 am. (Baton Rouge).   The Epidemic of Loneliness – Effective Clinical Social Work Responses.    Presented by Linda Kelly Woodruff, Ph.D., DSW, LCSW-BACS, ACSW.   First United Methodist Church, 930 North Blvd, Rm 117, Baton Rouge, LA 70802.    Most persons have experienced loneliness.  It is a negative emotional state when there is a difference between the relationships one wishes to have and one perceives one has.  It is more related to the depth or quality of relationship, than quantity.  For some this may be temporary and easily relieved.  For countless others in our communities, this is not so, and profound, chronic, loneliness ensues - indeed, has become epidemic.  It becomes a risk factor for emotional disturbance, physical disease and premature death.  Micro, mezzo and macro contributors will be explored for assessment and planning.  This workshop will address treatment interventions through lecture, exercises and dialogue.  6.0 Clinical hours.   Pre-registration deadline is 6/7/19.  Limited to 25 participants.
