New Orleans Region-Across Generations: Strategies to Address

244100_034: "NASW-LA New Orleans Region Sponsored Workshop" FREE for Members. Topic:  Across Generations: Strategies to Address the Unique Needs of Each Generation. Presented by: Candice Sorapuru, LCSW-BACS.  During this workshop: 1. Participants will learn about the distinctive communication styles and mental health needs prevalent in different generational cohorts starting with Gen X and ending with Generation Alpha (2010-2025).  2. Participants will learn to adapt their clinical techniques to close the generational gap.  3. Participants will explore the ways social media, technology, and culture impact mental health.  2.0 Clinical hours.  Pre-registration is required to be awarded CEU credit.

Presenters Bio

Candice Sorapuru, Co-Founder/Director of Clinical Services for Innovative Approaches Counseling Center, LLP, Adjunct Professor at Tulane School of Social Work, Consultant for the Louisiana Department of Education and Orleans Parish Criminal Court, brings over 20 years of experience to her work. Mrs. Sorapuru has specialized in School Social Work, Substance Abuse, Mental Health, Sexual Assault, Domestic Violence, and Criminal Justice. She earned her Master of Social Work from Tulane University School of Social Work and is currently pursuing a Doctorate of Social Work at the University of St. Thomas, MN. A native new Orleanian and a dedicated mother of three, she is deeply committed to serving her community.

Kierra Sorapuru is a newly licensed social worker currently employed as a Qualified School Social Worker (QSSW) for Jefferson Parish Public Schools. She earned her Master of Social Work from Tulane University and is currently completing the requirements for her License Clinical Social Work (LCSW). She is extremely passionate about supporting and empowering the New Orleans youth, families, and communities through mental health awareness and education.
