Lafayette Region - Best Practice Standards for Social Worker

Topic:  Best Practice Standards for Social Workers: A Roadmap to Working with the Military Community.   Presented by: Angela V. Huval, LCSW, BCD.  During this workshop participants will :  (1) Integrate NASW Social Work standards to increase military cultural competence in order to practice more effectively, (2) Identify presenting problems most common among military personnel and evidence-based strategies to treat them, (3) Identify ethical challenges when working with military members and veterans   3.00 Clinical or Ethical hours.  Pre-registration is required to be awarded CEU credit.

Presenter Bio

Angela Huval is a recognized clinician, author, consultant, and lecturer as well as a U.S. Army Veteran. She has over 28 years of experience in the Social Work profession. She spent 10 years working with high risk students in a public school system.  In 2009, she commissioned as a Behavioral Health Officer in the United States Army. Ms. Huval has served as a Military Youth and Family Life Consultant at various military installations.  She has served in the role of the State Behavioral Health Officer for fifteen years.  Ms. Huval manages a private practice part time in the Lafayette region and currently offers telehealth psychotherapy services for seven community based medical clinics.
