Danita LeBlanc retired as the State Suicide Prevention
Coordinator for Louisiana and has worked in suicide prevention and intervention through her career. She is
a licensed clinical social worker and a certified trainer of Applied Suicide Intervention Skills
Training (ASIST) and safeTALK suicide alertness training In addition, Ms. LeBlanc has more than 30
years of experience of clinical and administrative work in mental health. This
includes experience with crisis intervention, inpatient psychiatric units, and psychiatric triage in an
emergency department. She has worked in disaster behavioral health, trauma and
crisis intervention during numerous natural hurricane and flooding disasters in Louisiana.
