Baton Rouge Region - Suicide Safety Planning Intervention

Presented by: Danita LeBlanc, LCSW-BACS.   In this training participants will be able to: 1.  Identify what a Suicide Safety Plan is, who should have one and when it is used, 2.   Engage a person at risk of suicide in the process of keeping themselves safe,  3.  Collaboratively create and individualized safety plan with the person at risk of suicide,  4.  Problem solve with the person at risk to identify barriers or obstacles to using the plan, 5.   Ask clients about access to lethal means, 6.  Work with clients and their families in reducing access to lethal means.   1.00 Clinical CEU hour.  Pre-registration is required to be awarded CEU credit.

 
Presenter Bio


Danita LeBlanc retired as the State Suicide Prevention Coordinator for Louisiana and has worked in suicide prevention and intervention through her career.  She is a licensed clinical social worker and a certified trainer of Applied Suicide Intervention Skills Training (ASIST) and safeTALK suicide alertness training In addition, Ms. LeBlanc has more than 30 years of experience of clinical and administrative work in mental health.  This includes experience with crisis intervention, inpatient psychiatric units, and psychiatric triage in an emergency department.  She has worked in disaster behavioral health, trauma and crisis intervention during numerous natural hurricane and flooding disasters in Louisiana.
