2024 Lobby Day Prep Event

243921: NASW-LA Lobby Day Prep Event.  Presented by:  Carolyn Le, LMSW, Stephen Wright and Elly Wright.  Participants will develop advocacy skills to effectively advocate for themselves as social workers. The training session aims to empower individuals with effective advocacy skills. Participants will gain confidence through Advocacy 101, understand the Lobby Day agenda, and explore the Legislative Agenda’s relevance to social work practice. They'll practice articulating personal stories, learn about the legislative process, and receive essential materials to support their advocacy efforts. Networking opportunities will connect them with peers passionate about policy and social work, fostering collaboration and idea exchange.  1.50 General CEU.  Pre-registration is required to receive CEU credit.


Presenter Bios

Carolyn Le, LMSW, is College-to-Career Success coach at College Beyond. A native New Orleanian, she is passionate about empowerment. With a background in non-profits spanning trauma, behavioral health, higher education, and dementia, Carolyn is dedicated to amplifying your voice and ensuring your story is seen. When she's not busy coaching, you can spot her all around town, doing the most unexpected things—like cycling around in parades, busting a move in second lines, diving headfirst into volleyball games, or getting lost in a good book up in a tree. She firmly believes life is best enjoyed with a child-like sense of wonder and a willingness to embrace the unknown.

Stephen Wright: Before founding the firm, Stephen held the role of Director of State Affairs and Federal Health Policy for Tulane University. His previous experience includes the Louisiana Department of Health, Louisiana Legislature, and private lobbying firms. He has a proven track record of advocacy at the legislature, executive branch agencies and the various regulatory boards and commissions across Louisiana. Other clients include the La Chapter of the American Academy of Pediatrics, Hy Stor energy, the Louisiana Addiction Treatment Providers. His education includes a B.A. in Political Science from LSU and a law degree from Loyola University. He is a registered attorney with the Louisiana State Bar.

Elly Wright: Elly has a background in Marketing, Communications and Association Management. She has worked for various organizations including the American Institute of Architects in both the Dallas and Memphis Chapters and has led Development efforts for various for non-profit organizations; including the American Red Cross and Humane Society of Dallas. Elly currently manages a wide array of association, advocacy and media specific needs for the firm. Other clients include Louisiana Dermatological Society, Louisiana Speech and Hearing Association, Louisiana BIO and others. She is a graduate of the University of Mississippi where she earned a Degree in Business Administration, B.B.A and then completed a Master’s Degree in Journalism and Public Relations.
