Topic:  Alzheimer's Conference - Part 1.   Presented by: Keith M Weisheit, LCSW; Ellen Dunn, LMSW and Kasey Bealer, Dementia Trainer.  Part 1 of this conference will:  1. Educate social workers, other professionals, caregivers, and family members about signs and symptoms of dementia. 2. Provide support and resources to social workers, other professionals, caregivers, and family members dealing with dementia/Alzheimer's patients. 3. Teach positive approaches to supporting those individuals with dementia and family members of such. 4. Provide an opportunity for audience members to ask questions, voice concerns, and feel validated by social workers and other dementia professionals.  1.0 Clinical and 2.5 General CEU Hours.  Pre-registration is required to be awarded CEU credit.

Presenters Bio

Ellen Dunn, LMSW currently works as the Program Director and Social Worker for Alzheimer's Services of the Capital Area. She has been with Alzheimer's Services for nearly 5 years now, working directly with families to provide support and education based services to those diagnosed with Alzheimer's disease and other forms of dementia. Through her role at Alzheimer's Services, Ellen has also been afforded the opportunity to provide community education to other social workers, healthcare professionals and family caregivers with the goal to help them feel their most prepared in interacting with someone in their journey with dementia.

Keith M. Weisheit, LCSW is a local social worker who is the Director of Social Work for Terrebonne Homecare, Inc. He has worked as done hospital based social work and Home Health and Hospice for the last 33 years. He has been instrumental in bringing support services to patient and families struggling with dementia and started the first support group in 1993. He continues that work through the Bayou Region Alzheimer's Services today.
